I was at Villa Angela and Wildwood State Parks in Cleveland Saturday in the afternoon (1:30 to 4:15pm and Sunday in the morning 11am to 12:45pm. Been seeing the same birds as last weekend only thing different are more local birds - couple Great Blue Herons and an adult Black-crowned Night-Heron. The Night-Heron hangs around Euclid Creek on the Wildwood side and doesn't seem to fly very far if it sees you. I haven't been able to find some sparrows being seen elsewhere. Here are some of the birds seen: Hooded Mergansers 2 (females Euclid Creek 4/1) Red-breasted Mergansers ~ 250 on 3/31, less seen today Ruddy Ducks 4 (3M1F) 4/1 Villa Angela Pied-billed Grebe 1 - 3/31 marina Great Blue Heron 2 - 3/31, 1 on 4/1 Black-crowned Night-Heron 1 adult Wildwood both days Turkey Vultures 14 on 4/1 (kettle of 10 today around noon) Bonaparte's Gulls ~ 30 seen in marina both days on docks - seen fishing on Euclid Creek Belted Kingfishers 2 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers 2 seen near bridge 4/1 only, as I was leaving- flew back & forth across the road Eastern Phoebe 1 each day Brown Creepers 6 on 4/1, Golden-crowned Kinglets - few 7-8, Winter Wrens 3 on 4/1, Eastern Towhees - 1or 2, Hermit Thrush 1 seen on 3/31, 3 seen both parks on 4/1 (heard singing both days) Fox Sparrows 11 on 3/31, 7 seen on 4/1 Haven't been seeing other sparrows that others are seeing elsewhere only few Juncos and not as many Song Sparrows as last weekend Sims Park in Euclid on 4/1 from 1pm to 1:45pm Red-breasted Mergansers ~ 90 Horned Grebe 1 Eastern Towhee 1, Brown Thrasher 1, Eastern Phoebe 1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker 4 (eastern end of park near lake) Golden-crowned Kinglets - only a few Northern Flickers 6 Song Sparrows 4 Blue stone Business Park on 4/1 American Kestrel 1 male (haven't seen one year since last year) Red-tailed Hawk 1 immature Nancy Anderson Richmond Hts, OH http://www.flickr.com/photos/nancy_a/ ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
