This evening I got hit with a nice one-two punch of new arrivals to our county road in rural southwest Athens county: a singing Baltimore Oriole and then, quite a while later, a singing Black-billed Cuckoo. I saw the Baltimore's building a nest in a sycamore at the end of our road last year, so hopefully they will nest here again. We've had a Cerulean singing on our property for several days now, and the Blue-gray Gnatcatchers are still present in very concentrated numbers. I don't know if this is normal or not, but it's not anything I've ever noticed before. And while I haven't seen any yet myself, I've had reports from several friends of hummingbirds at their feeders elsewhere in the county. Good birding!
