All,

My dad and I birded my favorite Metro Park today, Clear Creek in Hocking County.

We saw the usual suspects including these warblers …

Cerulean (2! heard them driving along the river then stopped and located them)
Hooded (the usual many)
Parula (the usual many)
Louisiana Waterthrush (Only 1! at the start of the Hemlock)
Ovenbird (the usual many)
Kentucky (singing about 100 yards in on Cemetery Ridge Trail like always)
Blue-Winged (heard a few, finally saw 1 at Valley View Picnic area)
Yellow-Throated (anywhere there was a Sycamore)
Prairie (1 where Chestnut Trail hits Cemetery Ridge - the Prairie)
Pine (In the Prairie above but where Cemetery Ridge meets Fern Trail)
Black-Throated Green (a few along the river)
Yellow (Only 1 at the Ed Thomas Cabin Parking area)
Redstart (1! at the first fishing access)
Common Yellowthroat (Only 1 at the Ed Thomas Cabin Parking area)
Yellow-rumped (many)
Black and White (a few scattered along the river)

I love birding Clear Creek in the spring … I encourage everyone who can get there to go. Listen and find every bird making a sound you can! Let me know if you need more details on locations to find the birds. Most of these warblers nest at Clear Creel so you can pretty reliably see them.

Thanks!
Matt Erickson
