This morning I visited the Heritage Trail in Hilliard (Suburb of Columbus) and found at least one, possibly two, singing male Bell's Vireos. I walked the trail from Homestead Park to Hayden Run Road. The Bell's Vireo was about 200 yards north of the "2 mile" marker. I heard the vireo as I approached a tree, and when I was still 20 yards from the tree, the vireo obligingly came out and gave me an excellent view for a few seconds. It then went back behind the leaves and stopped singing. I proceeded north past a second tree about 50 yards from the first, and after I passed that tree I heard the song from that second tree. It could have been the same bird or a different one. When I passed the same trees on my return trip, I again heard and saw it in the second tree described above. I accessed the Heritage Trail from Homestead Park, 4675 Cosgray Road, Hilliard. It can also be accessed from the Heritage Trail Metro Park at 7262 Hayden Run Road, Hilliard.
