The molting adult Red-throated Loon found Sunday by Edward Kamposek is still present as of 7:15 a.m. tuesday the 22nd, close to shore off the Edgewater State Park swimming beach. I took many digiscoped photos that will be posted later on http://www.northnw.wordpress.com An excellent find by Edward. Yesterday I had an immature Common Loon in the same bay. This Red-throated Loon can be identified by it's slim and snaky shape, very slim dark bill that is often held upward at an angle, whitish face, smudgy gray neck with a small patch of brilliant deep red near the breast, dark gray body.
