The pair of cranes that nest near Rapids Road just south of Burton Village were out in the farm field on the east side of Rapids Road.
With them were their two new colts - still in down, but pretty good sized.

If you go looking for them and are coming from the south, be careful rounding the curves as you approach the fields. Don't want a repeat of 2010's tragedy that claimed an adult bird (which currently resides in Geauga Park District's West Woods Nature Center as a mount).

Also - watch out for turtles on the roads. Why do turtles cross the road in late May & early June? To get to the Shell station? No! To look for soft soil to lay their eggs.
