Had a great few hours over at Big Island WA. I used the pond behind the barn to tryout a new kayak...if the water had been higher, it would have been a lot more fun, and I would have been able to get to the woods as well. Regarding comment below, yes there were 12 PROWs. 2 could have been repeats, 2 by ear. I knew that it was going to be a good PROW day when I dragging the Kayak to the water and two males flew out and streaked right past me. :-D They were everywhere around that pond. Sorry, no pictures..still not brave enough to carry my camera with me in that thing yet. :-D Observer: Steve Jones 2012-06-24 16:00 Big Island, 6198-6798 Larue-Prospect Rd W Protocol: Stationary 360 Minutes Observers: 1 Comments: I was kayaking in the pond at this location. pairs of PROWs and possible fledglings were scattered throughout pond's edge, and in the flooded wood lot east of the pond. 4 Wood Duck 4 Mallard 10 Great Blue Heron 2 Red-tailed Hawk 3 Killdeer 4 Eastern Kingbird 24 Tree Swallow 12 Barn Swallow 2 House Wren 2 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 8 Gray Catbird 36 Cedar Waxwing 12 Prothonotary Warbler 2 Common Yellowthroat 2 Yellow Warbler 2 Song Sparrow 2 Northern Cardinal 2 Indigo Bunting This report was created and sent using BirdsEye BirdLog (http://birdseyebirding.com/) ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
