I have had Tree Swallows nesting on my five acre lot in SE Clermont County for about 8 years now. For the first time, they have produced a second clutch. Five young fledged from the first nesting, and I thought we were done for the season. Unlike in previous years, there has been an adult pair hanging around in the past week or so. A nest box (actually nest gourd) check this week found three eggs.

I have no way of knowing if this second clutch is from the same parent birds as the first, or if another pair took advantage of a pre-made nest on prime real estate. Can any nest monitors shed some light on this subject? Either way, it is nice to have Tree Swallows around for a while longer.
