Sorry to be too vague, but yesterday I felt sure I saw two surprisingly small cormorants in a roost of a couple dozen on Hoover Reservoir, visible on an exposed bar off the western shore, just north of the county-line bridge along Sunbury Rd. I just didn't have the magnification to see more detail than that. Since I won't be able to get out today, to observers who are out I recommend a stop to check out the possibility of neotropic cormorants; with a scope it shouldn't take long. Again, there are a number of pull-offs not far north of the Smothers Rd bridge where you can get a look if they're still there. There is no accepted record of this species in Ohio, but a number in adjacent states. Good luck, Bill Whan ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
