I spent some time searching the margins of Evans L. (Mahoning Co.) this afternoon, and found a few birds of interest: 2 great egrets, Cooper's hawk, spotted sandpiper, 3 solitary sandpipers, 225 ring-billed gulls, and e. phoebe.  A good-sized sandbar has developed at the NE end; perhaps this is the spot where a large-billed tern (!!!) was discovered in 1954 (I think that's the right year).  Around home base in Poland Twp. recently, singing birds have included e. wood-pewee, Acadian flycatcher, red-eyed vireo, Carolina wren, wood thrush, hooded warbler, scarlet tanager, and indigo bunting.  Not bad for mid/late July.........Craig Holt, Lowellville
