Susan Nash and I birded the Dillon Wildlife Area wetlands off Pleasant Valley Road, in Muskingum Co., from 5 to 8:30, with temperature ranging from 77 at 5 a.m., to 85 at 8:30. Hot, hot, hot. We saw a lot of fledged young, including great blue herons, red-headed woodpeckers, prothonotary warblers and hatch-year bald eagles. This must have been a banner year for great blues!
