Larry Gara and I went out to Caesar Creek yesterday (Tuesday) morning, but were unable to relocate either the Caspian Tern or the putative Royal Tern. Up at the Haines Boat Ramp (at the end of Young Road), we found an adult Little Blue Heron and could see the two immatures over in the mudflats accessed by Mound Road. There were also nine immature Double-crested Cormorants in the snags south of the fisherman's point. While we were there, an Osprey carrying a stick flew to the nest. I think it is far too late for nest-building activity; more likely, it's a young bird practicing up for next year.
