At 9:30 am, the Whimbrel walked out from behind the shrubs hiding the northwestern corner of the wetland and stayed visible long enough for a good scope view. While scanning for the Whimbrel to return, I found a long distant Buff-breasted Sandpiper along the far shore of the estuary wetland. To ensure the ID, I used 60x. A medium sized, smaller and less robust than nearny Killdeer, small headed almost dove-like, very active feeder, walking and picking the surface continuously, yellow legs, buffy face and upper breast fading into white under parts, very small bill much less visible than nearby Pectoral Sp. which had longer bills, Buff-breasted lacked the sharp demarcation of streaks on breast of Pectoral. Found the Buff-breasted at about 9:45 am.
