27 August 2012 This morning Ben Warner and I birded the former grain bin wetlands off Darby Creek Dr (see previous posts for directions or see the map embedded in the eBird checklist link below). As others have noted, this spot currently offers really excellent shorebirding, and the soon-to-be mowed path Bill Whan mentioned will make it even more convenient. Today we saw 734 shorebirds representing 17 species. With Pipe Creek closing soon I'd highly recommend a visit to this neat spot that allows for fairly close study of these shorebirds. Less common species today included: 1 Buff-breasted 1 Baird's 1 White-rumped 1 Black-bellied Plover 1 American Golden-plover 2 Stilt Sandpipers 1 Short-billed Dowitcher 3 Red-necked Phalaropes Full eBird checklist with some crummy photos and link to map is here: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S11452746 Good birding, Dave Slager Columbus, Ohio ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
