I have a rather grim and sick life list. The list is collision deaths at Carey High School. Over the years I have had American Woodcock, Brown Creeper twice, Yellow-billed cockoo, and a few others that I would have to check my records for. I added Northern Waterthrush this morning. They are always this time of year and fall migrants on the north side of the school. The students or other staff usually fine them. On the good side it always becomes a teachable moment. Banding at Springville Marsh was rather fruitful on Sunday. Migration is definitely in full swing. We banded about 130 birds of 25 species. The Grayceeked and Swainson's thrushes were numerous and a good variety of warbler. There are also several red-breasted nuthatches still hanging around.
