The water level in Lake Erie was very low this morning so took a walk at
the Scheeff East Point Nature Preserve on South Bass Island. Lots of ring-
billed gulls, double-crested cormorants, and mallards in the nearshore
area. Found three shorebirds there with at least two of them sporting the
black "armpits" underwing of black-bellied plovers.

Yellow-rumped warblers were everywhere. Saw a lone Eastern Phoebe.

Last Friday I got a chance to visit the Middle Bass Island East Point
Preserve which was also crowded with yellow-rumped warblers. Saw a Phoebe
that day also as well as three wren species-house, Carolina, and winter.
Highlight though was a Wilson's Snipe on the trail there near the Lake.
Got good looks at the bird three times.
