Folks, a massive cold front is scheduled to hit the Great lakes this weekend. Friday and Saturday will see a big temp drop and winds west (FRIDAY) and northwest (SATURDAY). this front originated in the Bering Sea, moved southeast through the northern territories and is moving across the upper Great Plains now. This is an incredible opportunity to hit the lakefront for lakewatching for jaegers, rare gulls, waterfowl, and perhaps the first grebe and loon movement of the year. Birders at Conneaut should be on the lookout for Red Phalarope and other shorebird rarities as well as rare gulls such as little and black-headed and franklins.

Check all passerine flocks for western warblers, western sparrows, and flycatchers should be studied closely.

Get to the lakefront if you can this weekend. We will be reporting as quickly and as often as we can.
