The first large flock of juncos in my yard ( nw columbus) this fall arrived this afternoon. Amongst them was a bird that I at first thought was a winter plumage chipping sparrow , but upon further inspection turned out to be a late clay-colored sparrow. The feeders are also busier than they have been in weeks, with 2 red breasted nuthatches and a pine siskin among the normal cast.

An exciting weekend to be birding!
