Hey everyone, Today while birding with Jim Heflich, we had a flock of 10 Crossbills in the pine trees of the parking lot around Mosquito Creek (Directions elaborated upon by Bob Lane in a previous post). We had one male Red Crossbill, one male White-winged Crossbill, and eight female/immature crossbills of which at least 7 were White-winged. I have a picture on my Facebook showing both birds with this link provided to see: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151125417044067.436315.740629066 <http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151125417044067.436315.740629066 &type=1#!/photo.php?fbid=10151125422249067&set=a.10151125417044067.436315.74 0629066&type=3&theater> &type=1#!/photo.php?fbid=10151125422249067&set=a.10151125417044067.436315.74 0629066&type=3&theater . I guess different flocks of Crossbills have been visiting this area over the past few days so it might be a great spot to see both species. Good luck!
