Northern Shrike again at Delaware Wildlife Area....Leonardsburg Road at 4:10 pm Jackie&Tom Bain Connected by DROID on Verizon Wireless Jackie Bain Galena, Ohio -----Original message----- From: Jay Stenger <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] Sent: Thu, Nov 15, 2012 22:36:26 GMT+00:00 Subject: [Ohio-birds] Northern Shrikes at Delaware SWA I am posting this report for Jack Stenger. Jay Stenger Yesterday there were two NORTHERN SHRIKES in the vicinity of Leonardsburg Marsh in Delaware Wildlife Area (Delaware County). One bird was along the dike just west of the intersection of Panhandle (or Leonardsburg) and Horseshoe roads. The other was about 2/3 mile west of that along the marsh edge. Northern Shrikes winter at the wildlife area most years, but these two birds are in areas where I haven't seen shrikes before. I'm curious to see if the more traditional spots are hosting birds as well. Not much waterfowl on the reservoir, but there were good numbers of gulls (250 Bonaparte's, 10 herring, ~250 ring-billed), and a handful of Snow Buntings scattered along the shoreline.
