Hello all,

It felt good to do some Ohio birding again. Ben Warner and I hit Killdeer
Plains this morning. The highlight was 3 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS at the
Upground Reservoir. Ben took photos. I think they were all
females/immatures. They were large and dark, with a couple bare spots on the
face and the most proximal secondaries were white. Other highlights around
the area:

Tundra Swan- 260+ around the various ponds
Gadwall- 500+, mostly in the large east pond along Wyandot-Marion Rd/Twp Hwy
68A
Short-eared Owl- 1, flew across near Twp Hwy 108 and Co Rd 71
Lapland Longspur- 3, in front of the house along Wyandot Rd/Twp Hwy 61A

There were several icterid flocks around, with many Rusty Blackbirds and the
other three common icterids. Otherwise there were lots of harriers and Bald
Eagles. Overall a windy, but nice day!

Good birding,
Sean
