Good day at Mitchell today doing the Winter Bird Count. The best bird and
totally unexpected was a calling LONG-EARED OWL at 710 this morning! We
listened to this bird for about 15 mins. We heard it in a treeline adjacent
to a field. We walked around the area for over half an hour but were unable
to locate the bird. Other highlights included 1 Barred Owl, 2 Red-breasted
Nuthatches, 11 Purple Finches, & over 25 Pine Siskins.
