Between 4:00 and 4:30 pm the immature dark phase Pomarine Jaeger came in
low from east to west, peeling the large gull flock off of the water like a
strong wind. This was just east of the Whiskey Island marina. Put on a
close show and chased a gull at the eastern edge of the marina. Enjoyed
this spectacle with Rich & Karen Kassouf. The frenzied gulls did a number
on my van--the POJA scared the crap out of the gulls! We looked though
the gull flock for the Black-headed Gull but lost the light too quickly.
The jaeger is number 297 for my Ohio year list, a record year for me. Not
bad considering I live in Cincinnati, the southwest corner of OH and worked
full time until October 31.
