I haven't seen them the few times I've driven by on my way to and from
campus, however it would definitely pay to walk the paved trail from that
spot down to the dam and scan the far shore... they could have just moved
downriver.

Also, check the 5th Ave bridge area around or just after dark -- they might
be seen flying up or down river, or feeding along the shoreline near the
old dam or farther upstream.
