Hi For those who will be trying for Bohemian Waxwing tomorrow: Holden officially opens at 9am although the gates and visitor center are usually open around 8. Please stop at the visitor center and offer to pay the nominal admission fee. This is doing the right thing if you are a non member. Also please park in the parking lots and not along the drives. Holden has its own police department. If you are parked in an inappropriate place officer friendly may not like it. Today the bird has been hanging around the perimeter of the overflow parking lot, but also did move to the edge of Corning lake and the Malus collection. It is hanging out with a group of Cedar Waxwings but there are multiple flocks of these. Looking for Cedars is your best bet. The area where this bird is being found is over 200 acres in size so if you are searching be sure to exchange mobile numbers with others for best communication. Again Holden is a big place and the people in the visitor center will help to get you oriented and have maps. If you also want to try for the Hoary Redpolls check with the visitor center for current information and directions to Buckeye Bud's Birdseed Buffet, which is about a 0.3 mile walk from the visitor center. Good luck Haans ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
