At east 72nd Street I also had an odd bird that resembled a huge immature
Thayer's gull.  My guess is it is a hybrid between a herring and glaucous
gull, sometimes referred to as Nelson's gull.  If you are out there and see
a bird that might be a young Thayer's, take a closer look.  Here is a link
