In the course of doing some research, it was not too hard for me to compose a complete list of Ohio's 427 bird species, in current AOU official order, as accepted by the Ohio Bird Records Committee. I don't have a web site, but I'd be glad to send this simple but complete and up-to-date list to anyone who requests it, as a Word file. Please share it if you like it. It has many uses: you can use it to find out the shortest official names of local birds (Sora, Ruff), or the longest (Northern Rough-winged Swallow, of course). I imagine a lot of Ohio birders could use a copy to mess around and format useful lists of their own, such as Ohio life lists, local checklists, etc. If you find an error or omission, please let me know. Any other such lists I know of are incomplete and/or currently inaccurate. This list does not include scientific names, but they--and taxonomic ordering--are going through a lot of changes recently, and can always be found updated at the American Ornithologists' Union web site at http://checklist.aou.org/taxa/ ; changes are regularly announced in the Auk's yearly July issue, and are available on the Web from the AOU at that time. Anyway, I thought this list might be helpful for the tiny number of Ohio birders who keep lists.
