Around 1:00 today I saw the Shrike (or one of the Shrikes) reported by Ben Warner and Kim Graham. Thanks, Ben and Kim! My directions: Take 42 north/east out of Delaware. Just out of town, veer left (north) onto Horseshoe Road. Follow Horseshoe Road to a crossroad sign marked Leonardsburg Road. Turn left (west) onto that road, which west of Horseshoe is apparently Panhandle, not Leonardsburg. It was snow-covered and slushy still today. The bird I saw was on the south side of the approximately one-mile straight stretch between Horseshoe Road and the T at Delaware Reservoir. First pass, nada. Second pass, the bird was hunting from a low shrub about 75 yards off the road. Great views in the sunlight of a beautiful bird! Along the same road: One Harrier, one Kestrel, and one Red-tailed Hawk. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
