The male varied thrush appeared at the feeders about 8:40 this morning - Thurs., Jan. 24. It was first seen on Tues., Jan.22 around noon by the resident. When James F. Yoder saw it yesterday, he got the word out that eventually reached the Bobolink Rare Bird Alert, this listserv and the Facebook Ohio Rare Birds page. The resident told me it was first seen yesterday (Wed., Jan. 23) about 9:15 in the morning.

The residents are young newly-weds, and a gift of bird seed would be much appreciated, if you go for this bird.

Also, if your GPS sends you up Rt. 93, it's taking you to Township Hwy 231 in TUSCARAWAS Co., not Coshocton Co. You are better off entering the intersection of Ohio 643 and Ohio 651 for Baltic. (My GPS does not recognize New Bedford.) That will get you to New Bedford, and from there, follow the directions previously given: take OH-651 southwest out of New Bedford to Twp. Rd. 272. Take the first left (a sharp turn, uphill) to the first house on the right. The driveway is quite narrow, but there is a place for either back-in or head-in parking just past the carriage building.
