Hello All... Received a cell call from Bill Kinkead and Jason Simonis (Columbus-area birders) about a probable Red-necked Grebe that they were viewing from near the County-line bridge at Hoover Reservoir this mid-afternoon (Sunday), at the Southern end of Hoover Reservoir. We arrived there at about 3:30 PM and later re-located the bird from the Walnut Street boat launch (S of the bridge on the W side) for great looks as it was actively feeding near the 'ice shelf'; about 150 or so yards out from the boat launch. The bird was last seen at about 4:15 PM on to the South, and much nearer the opposite shoreline.

Other notable sightings at Hoover Reservoir today include at least 100 Hooded Mergansers, Horned and Pied-billed Grebes, Lesser Scaup, Ruddy duck, Black Duck, Northern Shoveler, Red-breasted Merganser, Common Goldeneye, and good numbers of mostly Ring-billed Gulls. Near the dam, on the West side lower parking area, 2 Snow Buntings remain along the long, gravel 'spit' just N of the boat dock area. Also, we just got a text message from Jeff Pontius that he received an e-bird post that the Long-tailed Duck (reported 2 days ago) was also seen today from this same boat-launch area, though we did not find it.

Best of luck in finding these birds!
