Seems unprecedented to me that, ever since the first reports of White-winged Crossbills at Spring Grove Cemetery back on Nov. 17, 2012, these birds continue in good numbers, off and on, at least through February 10, 2013 in Cincinnati. (See http://cincinnatibirds.com/goodbird/sighting.php for recent reports). In all my years of birding in the area I have never seen such fidelity to one site prior to this winter season. Not only have these birds been reliable to some degree at Spring Grove, but also a little further west in the county, in smaller numbers, at Mitchell Memorial Forest. This certainly is a banner year for these birds. And both locations have had a handful of Red Crossbills as well, although more sporadically.
