The purpose behind this post is to see if anyone has ever seen a group of Blue Morph Snow Geese as large as what was at Funk Bottoms in Wayne County yesterday; anywhere, anytime, in Ohio. It was a total shock to see this many Blue Geese at one time, in one place. I am aware that others also saw these beauties yesterday. I have birded my entire life, traveled extensively, and only a handful of times have I saw more than a few; my best was 25 in south Texas, and 30 in coastal Louisiana, in their wintering range. All of the other sightings have always been of one or two birds mixed with White Phase Snow Geese. Seeing this unbelievable sight yesterday, made me think back to when a Blue Goose was considered a separate species, as can be found in older field guides.
