Lying too far outside general familiarity, here are three Web sites readers of Ohiobirds might study and enjoy. (1) From Alan Wormington comes this news from a legendary birding spot only ~20 miles north of Ohio on the other side of Lake Erie: "The Point Pelee Annual Bird Report --- for 2012 --- has just been published. The report is 13 pages long, and includes 27 colour photographs of various rarities seen during 2012. The report has been published in THE EGRET of the Essex County Field Naturalists' Club, and can be seen here: http://tinyurl.com/cukbt8p -- scroll down to page 17 Or you can go directly to the entire 13-page report here: http://tinyurl.com/d9em7fn But do not try to view with a smartphone, since it is a large file. If anyone has any corrections, updates or additions to the report, please send to me privately. Alan Wormington " Recommended. (2) At http://www.birds.cornell.edu/crows/ is the quite informative site from Kevin McGowan, an Ohio-born and -educated ornithologist now at Cornell. An ardent admirer and student of crows, he has much wisdom to share. He grew up in Springfield, Ohio, where ~25,000 crows continue to roost yearly. (3) http://www.netwalk.com/~vireo/boaf.html is the fascinating and wide-ranging Web site of Tom Thomson. Tom is best known among us perhaps for his "The Birds of Ohio" (two different editions from Indiana Univ. Press), and as the decades-long compiler of one of the oldest bird phone hot-lines in North America. This site hasn't been updated for years, but it remains uniquely interesting, with essays on birds and birders of the state, especially the Columbus area.
