When the weather was crummy my mom used to say "It's a good day for ducks!" and today she would have been right. The best concentrations were upstream of the Auburn Road bridge and close to shore along Valley Road. There were even 85 Tundra Swans on the north end of the lake by the dam. I was also fortunate to see three Horned Grebes that all look very different. Sibley points out that March and April can be tough months to I.D. Horned Grebes and these pictures demonstrate this point http://www.flickr.com/photos/85567104@N05/ Also saw my FOS Tree Swallows at the Auburn Road bridge. They were actively working the edge of the ice and seemed to be quite happy. Here are the ducks that I saw in case you are 'chasing' any of them: Wood Duck Pintail's Gadwall Ring-necked Ducks Green-wing Teal American Widgeon Mallard's Buffleheads Redhead Hooded Merganser Lesser Scaup Greater Scaup Matt Valencic Chagrin Falls, OH Geauga County ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
