Overall numbers were not what I expected them to be. It seems that northward migration is a bit retarded at the moment, at least from what we've come to expect in the wake of recent mild winters. There were very few Turkey Vultures, only a small showing of Red-shoulders, but quite a few Red-tails. However, there WERE some nice birds. The Golden Eagle cut along the southeast corner of the park, and was visible over the woodlot for about 20 seconds. The large, small-headed, and overall dark appearance were apparent, as the bird glided by with wings held in a pronounced dihedral. A small showing of northern finches was also nice - each species passing directly overhead and calling, Beautiful day to be out...hope many were able to do the same! 40 more vultures passed Sheffield Lake, along with 49 crows, shortly after I arrived home.
