It is presently 2:45PM Saturday afternoon. We are sitting on the west side of Evans Lake at the end of Calla Road. There are 3 Long-tailed Ducks, 2 males and 1 female, directly out in the middle of the lake. Past them, near the far shore, is an adult Glaucous Gull hanging out near some Red-breasted Mergansers. There are at least 50 Horned Grebes scattered over the lake. Combining Pine Lake to the south, and Evans Lake, we recorded 18 species of waterfowl, all in excellent numbers. An Osprey was at the tower nest northwest of the dam and a single Bald eagle was also seen. Common Loons, Belted Kingfishers, Double-crested Cormorants, American Coots, and numerous gulls are some of the other birds present.
