By serendipity, I was looking for Am Woodcocks at Pick Ponds yesterday evening just to run into a scheduled Woodcock Walk there. I joined a good-sized group for a stroll along the gravel road behind the Wood Duck ponds. We were rewarded w/a calling male seen by some on the ground before he took off for his aerial show which we watched a few times before heading back. Very nice. Coyotes were in good voice as well as were the Chorus Frogs & Spring Peepers. Spring will arrive someday...

Before that, I had brief looks at the Harris' Sparrow by the feeder there as well as good duck viewing: Blue-winged and Green-winged Teal, Redheads, Ring-necked (& Mallards of course), plus Coots & Can Geese. A couple Great Blue Herons & some Tree Swallows.

Earlier in the day, I spotted a single Sandhill Crane flying over my housing subdivision on the N side of Lancaster.
