There was 1 Marbled Godwit at the Newtown Gravel Pits on Cincinnati's east side yesterday. It was on a gravel bar separating two of the pools. I viewed below the levee behind the Newtown farmers market. The bird was backlit at first, but I got better looks by moving down the levee, and when the bird moved in front of a better background. Reddish base of long upturned bill noted. Golden-brown overall. Photo on this eBird checklist: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S13668545 I also had my first Great Egrets, House Wren, Louisiana Waterthrush, and Blue-headed Vireo elsewhere in the lower Little Miami River Valley. Good birding, Brian Wulker ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
