We had a female Hooded warbler this morning at Springville Marsh in Seneca County outside of Carey. It was working the ditch by the parking lot, and offered great long looks and picture ops. We banded a nice variety in between closing and opening the nets because of rain before giving way to the wind. Other species included Yellow-bellied sapsucker, both Kinglets, Woodcock, tons of Rusty blackbirds, Fox sparrow, Brown thrasher, Winter wren, Barn swallow, Green-winged teal and the other expected suspects. On a negative note, I just pulled a tick off myself! Spring has sprung even if it is cold.
