I spent an hour roaming this riparian bikepath along AlumCreek in northeast Columbus. Habitat vaguely similar to Woodside Green (which the McNulties have already summarized), so it makes an interesting comparison of 2 nearby riparian corridors through the urban sprawl. Notables included: N.Flicker - 6 Sapsucker - 3 Pileated Woodpecker - 1 (unusual here) E.Phoebe - 3, mostly around bridges over Alum Creek Brown Creeper - 2 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - 5 Ruby-cr.Kinglets - 9+, many in song or displaying Golden-cr.Kinglets - 4 Hermit Thrush - 6+ Brown Thrasher - 1 singing Yellow-thr.Warbler - 3 singing at different points along the creek Yellow-rumped Warblers - 25+ (abundant, with many in bright Spring plumage) Palm Warbler - 1 singing E.Towhee - 3 Chipping Sparrows - 3+ White-throated Sparrows - 30+, with lots of singing birds ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
