Hi,

I think the birds know when it's time to move on and there's no concern with
leaving seed out. Just like hummingbirds in the fall, it's a myth that
nectar feeders should be taken down. Leaving food out for late migrants may
actually help them fatten up for the trip.

These species have been around for what? millions? of years. They know what
they're doing.
