Larry Jeanblanc, Julie Karlson, and I were walking a trail at Buck Creek State Park in Clark County this morning when I heard a Marsh Wren singing. It seemed very strange because we weren't close to a marsh. We were on a mowed trail at an opening with about 2 feet high grass with shrubs (mostly honeysuckle) surrounding the area on most sides. We were close to a road and there was an open field across the road. I at first wondered if something could be imitating the wren. We walked to the east of where the bird was singing so that the light would be good. It kept singing and Larry spotted it. Then Julie and I were able to get good looks at it. It was definitely a Marsh Wren. I have never seen one that wasn't in a marsh.
