This post is a little late as it is for Sunday, June 2nd. It would have been timelier except the Ohio List-Bird server decided after ten years of posting observations that it now did not recognize my email address. Go figure. New entry address for List-Bird although everything else is fine on the old email address. Linda and I visited my favorite locations for Bobolinks and Dickcessils, Twp Road 64, Jackson Township, Wyandot County and Twp Road 50, Jackson Township, Hardin County. Neither disappointed us as the birds were there in nice numbers. At Twp Road 64, Jackson Township, Wyandot County we saw approximately 20 Dickcissels along with some Bobolinks. Red-headed Woodpeckers, Eastern Meadowlarks, Savannah Sparrows, Grasshopper Sparrows, Orchard Orioles, Common Yellowthroats, Yellow Warblers, Willow Flycatcher and Eastern Kingbirds. At Twp Road 50, Jackson Township, Hardin County we saw approximately 45 Bobolinks, 10-15 Dickcissels and Eastern Meadowlarks, Savannah Sparrows, Grasshopper Sparrows, Common Yellowthroats, Yellow Warblers Closer to home, the Prothonotary Warblers at the Hoover Nature Preserve, Galena, Delaware County, seem to be thriving this year. Good activity in all the areas of my nest boxes.
