Hello all,

After spending some time on Riddle Rd., I made my way over to the large
skypond in Fireside, just W of the jct. of TR-81 and TR-178. Thanks to
Doreene Linzell and Steve Landes for posting about this site over the
weekend.

There were fewer shorebirds present than on Sunday, but there was a fair
diversity of birds. Most interesting among the shorebirds was a juvenile,
probable nominate Atlantic Short-billed Dowitcher. It was a fresh juvenile
with overall pale gray-buff coloration on the upperparts, a pale buffy wash
across a lightly streaked breast, and largely whitish belly. Unfortunately,
the light was too poor and the bird too distant for photos. I hope it
sticks around another day or two.

The other noteworthy find here was a juvenile Black Tern hawking insects
low over the pond with hundreds of swallows. Pretty neat.

Good birding,
Justin
