Hello all, It seems like there was an appreciable arrival of Long-billed Dowitchers into the region yesterday, 22 August. As I mentioned earlier, I had a group of 10 at the mouth of Crane Creek yesterday evening in Lucas Co. Today, a group of 3 were noted at a closed area of Ottawa NWR along the Toussaint River in Ottawa Co., and, later in the day, a group of 9 were foraging with a nice aggregation of Green-winged Teal at the Boggy Bottoms area (#39) of Pickerel Creek WA in Sandusky Co. Although Boggy Bottoms isn't quite ideal for shorebirds at this time, it would be worth checking in conjunction with units 34-36, which are north of Parking Area D. The shorebirding at units 34-36 has been fairly productive this week. Stilt Sandpipers and a loner Red Knot being my best shorebirds from Wednesday and today. Good birding, Justin -- Justin Bosler Port Clinton, OH ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
