Birders, This morning, while conducting contract bird surveys at East Harbor State Park, I found 9 Red-necked Phalaropes at the north end of Middle Harbor. The birds were viewed from the newly renovated dike along the West Harbor Trail, reached from a parking area at the north end of highway 269. They could be seen with binoculars, but a scope was necessary to make an ID. There were also a half dozen Sanderlings and several Least Sandpipers in the area as well. -- Allen T.
