I stopped at Area N of Hoover Nature Preserve in Galena, Oh a little berore noon today. Bird activity along the trail that follows the Big Walnut Creek was very good. The highlight of the day was a wonderful eye level view of a Golden Winged Warbler, my second of the week (the other was at Blendon Woods). Other birds of note were Tennessee Warblers (plentiful), Bay-Breasted, Redstart, Pileated Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Swainson's Thrush and a Green Heron. On the old road trail I saw more Tennessees, Nashville, Chestnut-Sided, Red-Headed Woodpecker, Great Blue Heron, and many Great Egrets. I had this piece of paradise all to myself for a couple of hours. If you come, note that the trails are somewhat overgrown.
