As of 1:15PM this afternoon, Saturday, the previously reported eight American Avocets were still peacefully resting in the shallows to the left, as you arrive on "The Sandspit". The 50 degree temperature, with the wind, in the pouring down rain, felt stocking cap cold. "The Sandspit" belonged to us today, with no crazy distractions taking place. Some of the other birds of interest seen were a terrorizing Peregrine Falcon, a single Dunlin, two female Common Mergansers, twenty-four Bonaparte's Gulls, sixteen Bald Eagles, two Ruddy Ducks, and forty plus Turkey Vultures partying on the public beach. We are presently on our way back toward home in search of Ben Morrison's West Branch Red-necked Grebe.
