Hello Ohio birders, About an hour ago a Great Blue Heron landed on my chimney top, and for about a minute stood there tall in a good imitation of a White Stork. It then flew off to the south. We live in a thoroughly developed neighborhood in the Clintonville area of Columbus. The nearest open water of any consequence is the Olentangy River about 3/4 mile away. In 60+ years of birding I've never seen a heron on a chimney. Such behavior invites speculation into various legends regarding storks, chimneys, babies, etc. etc. but I'll leave it at that: one observation. Happy birding, Dave Horn Columbus __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 8049 (20130225) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
