My husband Tim just called me from I-71 mile marker 216 exclaiming that he saw an albino red-tailed hawk flying alongside the highway. I remembered Doreene's email. Since I'm sitting here working at my computer I was able to pull up her email and read it to him. I let him know that it's leucistic and not albino - it's exciting either way. Apparently the hawk is still hanging out in that area. Thanks for sharing Doreene!! This bird is almost all white. We saw it perched on the east side of I-71 and then watched it fly across the highway to the west side. In flight we saw a few dark feathers on the body. There is no red in the upper tail. Very striking bird! It flew before we could photograph it. Be assured that this is a hawk and not a Snowy Owl!!!!
